Affandi
Affandi (1907–1990) was an Indonesian painter and a pioneering figure of modern Indonesian art, born in Cirebon, West Java. Largely self-taught, he developed an intensely expressionist style, frequently squeezing paint directly from the tube onto the canvas to create thick, emotive impasto. A prolific artist, he produced thousands of works and is commemorated by the Affandi Museum in Yogyakarta.
