Can I rent an artwork for less time than the minimum payment period?

Yes, you can have the artwork for any period shorter than the minimum payment period. However, please note that you will still be responsible for paying the full amount corresponding to the minimum payment period.

For example, if an artwork has a minimum payment period of three months, you can choose to keep the artwork for just one day. In this case, you would still pay for the full three month's rental fee, but you have the flexibility to return the artwork earlier if you wish.

What is the difference between Fixed vs Flexible rentals:

1. Fixed Rentals: These are rentals with a set duration that cannot be canceled or modified during the rental period without incurring significant fees.
2. Flexible Rentals: These rentals offer more flexibility, allowing for cancellation or modification during the rental period with less stringent penalties.

The main differences are in the cancellation policies and the ability to modify the rental period. Please note, the Owner determines if it will be a Fixed or Flexible Rental.

What are the cancellation policies for Fixed and Flexible Rentals?

For both types of rentals:

• If you provide notice of cancellation more than 30 days before the Artwork is picked up by the Art Shipper (or before the casting process begins for sculptures), the cancellation fee is waived.
  
• If you cancel within 30 days of the pickup date, you agree to pay Alevon a cancellation fee of 10% of the Total Rental Fee plus any actual fees or costs incurred by the Owner and Alevon, not exceeding the Total Rental Fee.

For Flexible Rentals:
During the Rental Period, either the Owner or the Renter has the right to cancel with 15 days prior written notice to Alevon at hello@Alevon.com and via text at +1-305-454-4771.

For Fixed Rentals:
Fixed Rentals cannot be canceled during the Rental Period without significant penalties.

What happens if I need to change or cancel my rental?

For Flexible Rentals:

• You can cancel with 15 days prior written notice during the Rental Period.

Renters who cancel are responsible for the Art Shipper fees and prorated rental fees up to the cancellation date. If the Owner cancels, they are responsible for the Art Shipper fees and the prorated rental fees after the cancellation date, which have been paid by the Renter.

For Fixed Rentals:

• Changes or cancellations during the Rental Period are generally not permitted without significant fees.
• If you need to cancel or modify a Fixed Rental, contact Alevon customer support as soon as possible. We'll work with the Owner to see if they'll accept an early cancellation or modification of the Rental Period.
  
  It's Alevon's intent to work with you to the extent we can in cases of cancellation or changes to your rental. However, please note that our ability to accommodate changes may be limited, especially for Fixed Rentals.

How do I choose between a Fixed and Flexible Rental?

• Avoid high-traffic or public areas for all fragile Artworks.
• Keep inaccessible to pets or young children.

3. No smoking or vaping near the artwork.

4. Ensure your location meets minimum security requirements.

What happens in case of emergencies like natural disasters?

Alevon has protocols in place for emergency relocation of artworks in case of threats such as hurricanes or wildfires. Renters are required to cooperate fully with Alevon and designated Art Shippers to ensure the artwork's relocation in such situations.

• Owner's Insurance: Artwork owners can use their existing insurance policy, if it covers rentals.
• Alevon's Insurance: We've partnered with Lloyd's of London, one of the world's largest art insurance marketplaces, to offer comprehensive coverage for listed pieces. This option is available if the owner prefers not to use their own insurance or doesn't have suitable coverage.

How are condition reports handled? 

Condition reports, known as "Apparent Defects Reports," are prepared by our professional Art Shippers before and after each rental. These reports document the visible condition of the artwork, noting any apparent changes during the rental period. Our Art Shippers are trained to create these concise yet thorough reports, ensuring accurate documentation of the artwork's condition throughout the rental process.

Can I purchase an artwork I've rented? 

Yes, Alevon facilitates art purchases for renters who develop a strong connection with a rented piece. We also pay industry standard commissions for referrals and affiliates, where appropriate.

How does Alevon ensure the quality of listed artworks? 

Alevon employs experts who work directly with museums, art lenders, premier collectors, and artist estates to carefully select and feature artworks by world-renowned artists. Our partnerships with museum permanent collections, art lenders, and authentication by official foundations ensure the highest standard of artistic excellence. Can I list artwork on other platforms if I use Alevon? 

No, any artwork listed for rent on Alevon must be exclusively listed on our platform and cannot be listed on any other art rental marketplace. 

How does Alevon handle disputes between renters and owners? 

Alevon has an arbitration clause in place to resolve disputes: 

1. Parties are encouraged to attempt resolution through discussion first.
2. If unsuccessful, formal arbitration is used as a last resort.
3. The arbitration process is binding and conducted by a neutral arbitrator.
