Alighiero Boetti (1940–1994) was an Italian conceptual artist associated with the Arte Povera movement. He is best known for his embroidered 'Mappa' world maps, produced in collaboration with Afghan artisans, and for works exploring systems, order, duality, and chance. His practice spanned drawing, sculpture, and collaborative textile projects.
