Anselm Kiefer
Anselm Kiefer (born 1945, Donaueschingen) is a German painter and sculptor associated with Neo-Expressionism. He is known for monumental, heavily textured works incorporating materials such as lead, ash, straw and clay, which confront German history, mythology and memory. His ambitious, often sombre output has made him one of the most influential artists to emerge from post-war Germany.
