Chu Teh-Chun (1920-2014) was a Chinese-French abstract painter who fused traditional Chinese ink painting and calligraphy with Western abstraction. Based in Paris from 1955, he became the first ethnic Chinese member of France's Académie des Beaux-Arts, and, alongside Zao Wou-Ki and Wu Guanzhong, is counted among the great modernist painters bridging Chinese and European art.
