Chung Sang-Hwa (1932–2026) was a South Korean painter and a leading figure of the Dansaekhwa monochrome movement. Born in Yeongdeok, he is known for meditative, grid-like abstractions produced through a labour-intensive process of layering, drying, ripping away, and refilling paint, creating quietly textured, near-monochrome surfaces.
