Claes Oldenburg (1929–2022) was a Swedish-American sculptor and a leading figure of the Pop art movement. Born in Stockholm and based largely in the United States, he is best known for his monumental public sculptures and soft sculptures that transform everyday objects into oversized, often humorous forms. Much of his large-scale work was made with his collaborator Coosje van Bruggen.
