Édouard Vuillard (1868–1940) was a French painter and printmaker associated with the Nabis, a group of Post-Impressionist artists active in Paris in the 1890s. He is best known for his intimate domestic interiors, or "intimist" scenes, in which patterned surfaces, muted color, and flattened space evoke quiet, enveloping atmospheres.
