François Morellet (1926–2016) was a French painter, sculptor, and light artist and a pioneer of geometric abstraction. A founding member of the Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel (GRAV), he built rigorous, system-based compositions from grids, lines, and neon that anticipated Minimal and Conceptual art.
