Gary Hume (born 1962, Tenterden, England) is a British painter associated with the Young British Artists. He came to prominence with his Door Paintings, life-size renderings of hospital doors in high-gloss household paint on aluminum. His later work, in the same enamel surfaces, ranges across figures, portraits, flowers, and animals, and he was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1996.
