Henry Moore (1898–1986, Castleford, England) was a British sculptor best known for his monumental semi-abstract bronzes of reclining figures and mother-and-child groups. Working with organic, pierced forms inspired by the human body and the natural landscape, he became one of the most influential sculptors of the twentieth century and a defining figure of modern British art.
