John Chamberlain (1927–2011) was an American sculptor associated with Abstract Expressionism and assemblage. He is best known for his large-scale sculptures made from crushed and welded automobile parts, which translate the gestural energy of painting into three dimensions. His work was the subject of major retrospectives at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
