Li Shan (born 1942, Heilongjiang Province) is a Chinese contemporary painter and a founding figure of the Political Pop movement that emerged in the 1990s. He is best known for his Rouge series, which recasts Mao Zedong as an androgynous figure wearing lipstick and holding a lotus, using irony to question political iconography.
