Lynette Yiadom-Boakye (born 1977, London) is a British painter and writer of Ghanaian descent, known for her enigmatic portraits of fictional Black figures who do not depict real people. Working in a restrained, subdued palette, she draws on the traditions of European portraiture, and was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2013.
