Sean Scully (born 1945, Dublin) is an Irish-American painter and printmaker known for his large-scale abstract compositions of stripes, bands, and blocks of luminous, layered colour. A leading figure in contemporary abstraction, he has twice been shortlisted for the Turner Prize and exhibits internationally.
