Secundino Hernández

Secundino Hernández (born 1975, Madrid) is a leading contemporary Spanish painter known for a highly energetic practice that fuses abstraction and figuration, strong linear drawing, and vivid color into densely worked canvases that often reveal their own making through washing, scraping, and reworking of the surface. Deeply engaged with art history, he draws on references ranging from El Greco and Velázquez to Picabia, Miró, and Action Painting, which he reinterprets in a distinctly contemporary idiom. Living and working in Madrid, Hernández has exhibited widely in Europe, the United States, and Asia, and his work is held in major institutional and private collections, establishing him as one of the most internationally recognized Spanish painters of his generation
