Serge Poliakoff (1906–1969) was a Russian-born, Paris-based painter and a leading figure of post-war European abstraction. A key member of the New School of Paris, he is known for his interlocking planes of flat, richly saturated color arranged without line, developing a highly personal geometric vocabulary after encountering Kandinsky and the Delaunays.
