Takis (1925–2019), born Panayiotis Vassilakis in Athens, was a self-taught Greek artist and a pioneer of kinetic art. Working in Paris from the mid-1950s, he harnessed magnetism, light, and sound to make the invisible energies of the universe visible, most famously in his Tele-Magnetic sculptures and his slender, vibrating Signals.
