Vanessa Beecroft (born 1969, Genoa) is an Italian-born, American-based performance artist who also works in photography, video, and sculpture. She is best known for her staged tableaux vivants, or 'living paintings,' featuring groups of nude or uniformly styled female models, works that examine the female body, identity, and the conventions of artistic representation.
