Victor Vasarely (1906–1997) was a Hungarian-French artist widely regarded as a founder and leading figure of the Op art movement. Trained in the Bauhaus tradition in Budapest before settling in Paris in 1930, he became known for geometric abstractions of animated surfaces and interacting colours that create optical illusions of movement and depth.
