Issy Wood

Issy Wood (b. 1993, Durham, North Carolina) is an American-born British artist and musician whose multidisciplinary practice explores themes of consumerism, identity, and nostalgia. Known for her enigmatic figurative oil paintings, Wood combines contemporary objects with classical aesthetics, creating a "medieval millennial" style that juxtaposes auction catalog imagery, family heirlooms, and surreal compositions. Her work often addresses femininity and obsolescence through recurring motifs like clothing items, car interiors, and ornate silverware. A graduate of Goldsmiths (BA, 2015) and the Royal Academy Schools (MA, 2018), Wood has exhibited internationally at institutions such as Michael Werner Gallery, Carlos/Ishikawa, and X Museum. Her paintings are held in collections including the Tate, Fondation Louis Vuitton, and ICA Miami. Beyond visual art, Wood is also a musician who has released albums under Mark Ronson's Zelig Records and independently. She lives and works in London.
