Maternidad (Monumental Size)

Carbonell’s sensitivity to the beauty and expressive connection of the love between a mother and child inspired this sculpture. The mother, in a reclining position, holds the child as the two souls become one. The sculpture portrays the love and nurturing that expresses the affection of a mother with her child. It mediates between the representation of reality in the image and an abstract representation of love. 

Carbonell's personal philosophy searched for the essence of form and the absence of detail while empowering a feeling of monumentality in his sculptures.
